CLASSIS IAKOTA OF THE CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH
What's a Classis?
The word originates in Latin and has a meaning similar to the word "class," as in "class of ships" or "class of people." In the Calvinist churches that arose in continental Europe (aka "Reformed"), it came to mean a regional group of congregations.
Our Mission
Classis exists to help the various congregations work together on common projects, hold each other accountable to the Gospel, and encourage each other as we fulfill our part of the church's common mission - to testify to Jesus Christ in word and deed.
Classical Officers
To handle correspondence, main-tain records, and handle funds we have a Stated Clerk and a Classical Treasurer. The current Stated Clerk is Rev. Bernie Haan. The current Treasurer is Bob Van Ruler.
Congregations
Our congregations are varied in style of worship and the context of ministry, but we are united in a commitment to the Bible as the Word of God and to the Reformed confessions.
